The Sun and the Moon

Good day everyone! I’m about to share some fascinating scenarios regarding the old but gold mandayan folktale written by Mabel Cook Cole, The Sun and the Moon. Hope you’ll like them!

The folktale has began by showing the usual family set up. There were the Sun–the husband of Moon and their offsprings which were the star and the powerful gigantic crab. Pretty normal right? They have such weird members of the family though.

Who would have thought that the moon has a quarrelsome husband? Quite pitiful. That being said, Sun has started showing his fiery stroppy side. He once got angry to his son, star, so he shred and scattered him in the sky. Everyone might say, “How come? He’s his child!” A responsible father can’t do that, indeed. Except he’s a Sun.

Moon on the other hand, was frightened of his husband. That’s why she tried her best to run as fast as she can until she has created a large distance. Up until now, the Sun’s still chasing her. What a consistent troublesome husband.

Here’s the worst part for me. Who could forget the gigantic crab that brings havoc not just on the places near him but also to his own mother? He was always furious that he wanted to swallow her! Poor Moon. She has gone through a lot.

Generally, the said folktale has focused on family and responsibility. An astonishing masterpiece, indeed!
